Auxiliary Weapon

Auxiliary weaponsA sabre or katana of the same element as the main weapon equipped in the top-left slot of the sub weapon section are a unique mechanic to Gladiator and Chrysaor. Equipping an auxiliary weapon improves certain skills, and is required to activate others. Players can use these classes without an auxiliary weapon, but will not reach their full potential.

To equip an auxiliary weapon, there are three simple requirements:

  • The weapon must be set at the top-leftmost corner of the weapon grid
  • The weapon must be a sword or katana
  • The weapon must have the same element as the main hand weapon

Other than these requirements, the auxiliary can be any weapon, including Class Champion Weapons of other classes. However, because they are part of the grid instead of the main weapon, weapon skills that only take effect when equipped as main weapons will not work.

The following skills require equipping an auxiliary weaponA sabre or katana of the same element as the main weapon equipped in the top-left slot of the sub weapon section:

Gladiator is a strong offensive class with a high double attack rate and powerful skills. Unique to the class is its ability to equip an auxiliary weaponA sabre or katana of the same element as the main weapon equipped in the top-left slot of the sub weapon section, which boosts certain skills, including damaging skills that could rival the Hermit and Sidewinder.

Its main purpose is the ability to use the auxiliary weaponA sabre or katana of the same element as the main weapon equipped in the top-left slot of the sub weapon section's charge attack, which can potentially bring a different set of utility for the party.
  •  Twin Coil2-hit, 200% elemental damage to all foes (Damage cap: ~415,000 per hit).: A fairly straightforward nuke. It has one of the highest damage cap among class skills, but its low base damage requires players to have an advanced weapon grid and a specific setup to reach it.
  •  Decimate5-hit, 100% superior elemental damage to a foe (Damage cap: ~81,000 per hit).
    When an auxiliary weaponA sabre or katana of the same element as the main weapon equipped in the top-left slot of the sub weapon section is equipped: Number of hits doubles to 10.
    : Another fairly straightforward nuke which is prized for its ability to always hit foes with superior element. It becomes even more powerful with an auxiliary weaponA sabre or katana of the same element as the main weapon equipped in the top-left slot of the sub weapon section. Useful to bring against multiple enemies with different elements. However, note that by changing its element, it may not be affected by certain weapon skills or summon auras that affect only a particular element, such as Seraphic Weapons. Very useful for certain fights that require you to hit the enemy a certain amount of times in a single turn, and provides great value with Supplemental Damage.
