The Witch's Dream[edit]
The mysterious witch Magisa attempts to make off with Lyria, explaining that she needs Lyria to fulfill her dream of seeing the Island of the Astrals. Since Magisa shares the same goal, she joins the crew.
During their travels, (Captain) and company come to a small town.
Finished with their errands, the crew is about to get back on the airship when someone calls out.
???: Excuse me... You there, girl. The one with the blue hair. Yes, you.
Lyria: Um... Me?
???: That's right. I've finally found you. Been looking for ages, you know.
Lyria: Huh? Ages? Just to find me?
Vyrn: Whoa there, chick. Are you saying you know Lyria?
???: "Chick?" Quite a rude way to address a lady. Though I suppose "most magnificent mistress" would be a bit much to ask...
Magisa: In that case, you may call me Magisa.
Magisa: As I was saying, I've been searching for you for a long time. But I've found you at last!
Magisa: Now then, you're coming with me. Don't worry. I won't hurt you...
Lyria: What? H-hold on just a second, please!
Vyrn: Yeah! Who do you think you are, giving her orders like that? Are you with the empire?
Magisa: The empire? Oh, you mean the Erste Empire? I have no interest in such things...
Magisa: And you... You have quite a gallant look. There's something about your eyes... Are you Miss Blue-Hair's bodyguard perhaps?
Vyrn: (Captain) is the captain of our crew!
Lyria: That's right! You won't find a more reliable skyfarer anywhere!
Lyria: And there's more to it than that... (Captain) and I are—how do I put it—inseparable I suppose...
Magisa: Is that so? Now that's an interesting way to phrase it. Can't say I'm surprised though.
Lyria: Wait... What are you thinking exactly? And why are you smiling at me like that?
Magisa: Smiling? Not me, my dear girl. Still, your little relationship is going to be a bit of a problem...
Hooligan: Hey there, pretty lady! What's this problem you're talking about?
Vyrn: Ugh... Where'd this guy come from?
Hooligan: What's this thing? Are you hunting lizards or something?
Hooligan: But why don't you forget about that and come hang out with me. Got all the time in the world for a woman like you!
Magisa: Oh my. You're interested in little old me?
Magisa: That sounds just fine, but would you mind if I bring one of my friends along with me?
Hooligan: Of course! If she's a knockout like you, then by all means!
Magisa: Really? A knockout, huh? Well, that's apt. Isn't it, Moe?
Magisa: I, too, have a lot of free time on my hands. Now then, let's spend some quality time together.
Hooligan: Wh-what the hell is that thing?
Magisa: This is my dear friend. Don't worry. Moe's not that scary, although there is a teeny tiny problem with anger management.
Hooligan: Gimme a break! To hell with this! I don't have time for nasty witches like you!
Magisa: Oh dear. It seems that I've been dumped yet again.
Magisa: But losers like that aren't worth my time anyway.
Magisa: However, this girl is absolutely necessary for me to achieve my goal. And yet...
(Captain) tells Magisa everything that has happened on the journey so far, starting from meeting Lyria.
Magisa: I see... That's quite the story.
Vyrn: So? Care to explain why you think Lyria is so necessary?
Magisa: Lyria is... the key. You know that, don't you, (Captain)? You know what Lyria is.
Magisa: I had a dream, you see. One night I dreamed of another world, and I've desperately yearned for that world ever since.
Magisa: I can remember it even now. It's all so clear, even the smells... And my memories have driven my search for that world.
Lyria: This world you saw... I can hardly believe it, but I wonder...
Magisa: I might not look the part, but I was born a witch. I've had more than a few special dreams...
Magisa: But that world was not in the past or the future.
Magisa: Imagine my surprise when I finally realized that it's actually the Island of the Astrals!
Vyrn: Seriously?
Magisa: So there you have it. I require Lyria. And you wouldn't dream of telling me to give up, now would you?
Magisa: I've got a bit of a single-track mind, and my mind is made up. Nothing will stop me from getting what I want.
Magisa: Now then... Let's hear your answer. Try not to disappoint me.
Choose: Why don't we all go together?
Magisa: Together? You would have me join your crew, (Captain)?
Vyrn: Yeah! We're headed to the same place, so why not travel together?
Choose: I won't let you have Lyria.
Lyria: Oh dear, oh dear!
Magisa: You're every bit as chivalrous as I thought... I could just melt. But it looks like our little negotiation is over. Too bad...
Vyrn: Hold up! If you want to be with her so bad, why don't you just come with us?
Continue 1Magisa: That sounds... interesting. And fun as well. In short, it's a wonderful idea!
Magisa: So I suppose I'll be coming along with you and your friends on your little journey, (Captain).
Magisa: You seem quite reliable, so don't make me regret this. Okay, (Captain)?
(Captain) has made a new friend in the most unlikely of places due to their shared goal.
With the land of their dreams waiting out there somewhere, (Captain) and company continue making their way across the sky.
The Unseeable Future[edit]
Magisa struggles to decide on a gift for a friend during the crew's visit to a small village. Vyrn gets impatient at the long shopping session, but Magisa says it'd be better for the village if they stay a while. When Vyrn asks why, monsters suddenly attack.
Vyrn: Hey! Aren't you done yet, Magisa?
Magisa: Give me a few more minutes. I just can't decide on a color.
The crew has stopped in a small village to replenish supplies, and Magisa is scrutinizing possible gifts.
Magisa: This ornament has a distinctive artistic feel to it, but I wonder if my friend would be afraid of it. What do you think, (Captain)?
Magisa: My friend, you see, is incapable of leaving her hometown for reasons I can't really go into.
Magisa: She's so timid that I'm worried even this ornament would frighten her.
Vyrn: What exactly is so hard about picking out a small gift?
Magisa: Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you wait so long.
Magisa: But do try to be patient. I suspect that this village will soon need us...
Vyrn: Hm? What's that supposed to mean?
Monster: Gwoooaaargh!
Magisa: That's what I mean. Now let's make this quick. We'll be much busier soon.
The Unseeable Future: Scene 2[edit]
After defeating the monsters, the crew receives a request to destroy their den. On the way there, Magisa is asked about her ability to see the future, and she replies that such things are no problem given her magical aptitude.
Magisa: It's simple. I'm a witch, so predicting the future is no big deal.
Lyria: Is that how it is?
(Captain) and company defeat the monsters attacking the village.
After proving their skills, they receive a request to destroy the monster den in the forest.
Magisa: Well... Not every witch is the same of course, but...
Magisa: You know how scholars specialize in certain fields? Different witches are also good at different types of magic.
Magisa: For example, one might be good at summoning but not so good at telling the future.
Magisa: And another might be good at telling the future but not so good at possession.
Lyria: So you're good at telling the future?
Magisa: Don't be silly. I'm quite good at everything. There's no one who can top me at anything related to magic.
Vyrn: You're a confident one, aren't you?
Magisa: Perhaps... But it's a fact. Despite my curves, I'm as straight as an arrow.
Magisa: Anyway, the monster den is close. Let's take care of it so we can go back to picking out gifts!
The Unseeable Future: Scene 3[edit]
Magisa tells everyone that, as she foretold, the monsters have all been defeated. Lyria insists that she senses something ominous. Magisa is flippant, but much to her surprise, Lyria is right—another monster appears.
Magisa: Phew... Looks like that was the last one, so our business here is done. Now let's go back to the village.
Lyria: Wait! I still feel something ominous here...
Magisa: Are you saying I'm wrong? Everything was as I foretold. That was definitely the last monster.
Magisa: You're just imagining things. Now let's go back to the village and pick out—
Monster: Gwoooaaargh!
Magisa: Huh?
Vyrn: Seems that Lyria was right! There's a monster left!
Magisa: That's... impossible... In the future I saw...
Vyrn: Look, we have to do this! Let's go, (Captain)!
The Unseeable Future: Scene 4[edit]
Magisa is dumbfounded by her incorrect prediction. She suggests that she can no longer tell the future due to the way her journey has changed her destiny. She decides instead to enjoy the fact that the future is unknown.
(Captain) and company finish eliminating the monsters as requested by the village.
The crew carries Magisa, who is still stunned, onto the airship, and they leave the village behind.
Magisa: I-I'm sorry... I can't believe I was wrong.
Magisa: That's never happened to me before. Not even once.
Magisa: Perhaps my journey with you guys is gradually changing my fate.
Magisa: If so, I don't think I'll be able to foretell the fu—
Lyria: Oh no!
Magisa: What's wrong, Lyria?
Lyria: You forgot to buy the gift you were looking for!
Magisa: Oh...
Vyrn: I totally forgot. Hey, Magisa. Do you want to go back?
Magisa: How very silly of me... But never mind. Let's just keep going.
Magisa: I didn't buy anything, but I'll have lots of stories to tell my friend.
Magisa: Including exciting tales of journeys that not even I, the magnificent witch Magisa, can predict.
Magisa's tone suggests that she's perfectly happy with that.
No fears of unknown futures cloud her expression. Her face is instead lit by a new kind of hope.
The Witch's Confession[edit]
(Captain) and the crew accompany Magisa on a request to investigate some ruins, but she keeps looking and sighing at (Captain). Lyria asks her why, and Magisa responds that (Captain) is the person of her destiny. Before the surprised Lyria can ask for details, the crew is attacked by monsters.
Magisa: Sigh...
After accepting a job request to investigate some ruins, (Captain) and the crew are heading deep into a forest.
Magisa: ...
Magisa: Sigh...
On the way to the ruins, Magisa sighs heavily, her eyes focused on (Captain) the whole time.
Lyria: Magisa seems kind of down, doesn't she?
Vyrn: Yeah, she's been sighing to herself for a while now. Maybe something's bugging her.
Magisa: Well, I guess this kind of thing can't be helped...
Magisa: I can't quite believe it myself, but I just have to accept what I know is true...
Lyria: Magisa! You know you can tell us if something's bothering you—
Magisa: To think (Captain) is the person of my destiny...
Lyria: What!
Magisa: Oh my, Lyria. Is everything okay? You look rather shocked.
Lyria: M-Magisa... Just now... What did you...
Magisa: Yes?
Monster: Grooar!
Magisa: Well, would you look at that. I assume this is what you're stammering about, Lyria.
Lyria: Well... um...
Monster: Grooar!
Magisa: How cute. I'll give you points for trying, but you lost the moment you failed to catch us off guard.
Magisa: And you're about to get a full-body lesson in the consequences of that!
The Witch's Confession: Scene 2[edit]
(Captain) and the crew leave the forest and arrive at the ruins. Magisa explains to Lyria how she can't see (Captain)'s future and views the captain as a special person. As Magisa considers the nature of her attraction to (Captain), a group of imperial soldiers attacks.
(Captain) and the crew get through the forest and enter the ruins they were sent to investigate.
Vyrn: What's with this place? Based on the job description, I expected something a little messier.
Vyrn: It honestly looks just a bit too clean. Right, (Captain)?
Vyrn: I wonder if this means someone got here before us...
Lyria: Magisa! About what you were saying before... What did you mean exactly?
Lyria: You said "person of destiny." You couldn't possibly mean...
Noticing Lyria's glances toward (Captain), Magisa smiles knowingly at the flustered girl.
Magisa: That could very well be exactly what I mean...
Magisa: But who can say? All I know for sure is that (Captain) is special to me.
Lyria: Special?
Magisa: Indeed. Though I couldn't tell you the exact reason.
Magisa: I wonder why I can't see it, the future surrounding (Captain).
Lyria: Huh? But I thought you had the power to see the future.
Magisa: I do, but the closer I get to (Captain), the hazier the future becomes.
Magisa: To be perfectly honest, it frightens me. I've always taken my ability to see the future for granted.
Magisa: And so I can't help being drawn in...
Magisa: (Captain) has shown me a future that I couldn't have expected.
Magisa: It's funny really. I want to get closer even though I'm frightened. It's the first time I've ever felt this way.
Lyria: Magisa...
Magisa: If I had to name these feelings I'm having right now, I've no idea which words I'd go for.
Lyria: Um... I'm not sure that I fully understand either, but it definitely sounds like—
Lyria: Magisa! Behind you!
Magisa: Huh?
As Magisa tries to turn around, (Captain) dashes over and shoves her to one side.
Imperial Soldier: Blast! Did I miss? Perceptive brats!
Magisa: T-thank you, (Captain)...
Thanks to (Captain), the imperial soldier's attack misses Magisa.
But the color drains from her face as the attack skims past her hair, and she reflexively takes a sharp breath.
Magisa: !
Vyrn: What are imperial soldiers doing in the ruins?
Lyria: I have no idea, but we need to deal with them!
The Witch's Confession: Scene 3[edit]
The request turns out to be a trap, and (Captain) and the crew are surrounded by imperial soldiers. Barely saved by (Captain), Magisa is terrified by her first encounter with a future she could not predict. However, she's also excited by the unknown, and she takes (Captain)'s hand as if to confirm its existence.
Imperial Soldier: As amusing as your pathetic attempts are, you should just give up already!
Soldiers appear from the shadows of the ruins one after another, and (Captain) and the crew soon have no way out.
Vyrn: Looks like the investigation request was a trap.
Imperial Soldier: And you fell for it! You may lead a crew of skyfarers, but you're still just a kid!
Vyrn: What do we do, (Captain)? We're completely surrounded! Maybe we can break through somewhere and make a run for it.
Magisa: ...
Magisa: Phew...
Magisa: Hey... (Captain)... Please... Take my hand.
(Captain) takes the witch's hand. Her hand shivers violently in the captain's grasp.
Magisa: Do you understand why I'm trembling so much? I must seem like such a fool to you.
Magisa: I never would have imagined that something as normal as not being able to see the future would be so terrifying...
Magisa: Just now, when that soldier almost struck me, I really could have died.
Magisa: Because I couldn't see the future, I wasn't able to dodge it myself.
Magisa: And I might not be so lucky next time...
Magisa: The thought of it makes me tremble with fear. I really am terrified.
Magisa clings to (Captain)'s hand, as if confirming that it's really there.
Magisa: But I'm excited too. When I'm with you, (Captain), I shiver for entirely different reasons...
Magisa: I think I've been looking for someone who makes me feel this way for a long time.
Magisa: Tell me, (Captain), will you continue to make me feel like this?
Magisa: Can you promise me a future that makes me tingle like I am right now?
Choose: Of course!
Magisa: I see... I hope you know that I'll hold you to that.
Magisa: I don't know how many years it's been since someone made a promise like that to me. A promise without a conclusion...
Choose: There will be more than just tingling...
Magisa: I see. Well, in that case should I be looking forward to a different sort of future?
Magisa: One far greater than anything I can anticipate perhaps?
Continue 1Magisa: Anyway, it would be almost criminal of me to relish this sensation any longer.
Magisa: And what do you know! I've finally stopped trembling. After all, you're by my side.
The Witch's Confession: Scene 4[edit]
(Captain) and the crew successfully fend off the imperial soldiers, and Magisa releases Morax to take care of the last one. With their relationship closer than ever, (Captain) and Magisa resume their journey through the skies.
Vyrn: Looks like we managed to deal with them. I'm sure glad that's over.
With Magisa's help, (Captain) and the crew defeat the imperial soldiers.
Magisa: Well, that was exhilarating. (Captain), you aren't hurt, are you?
Lyria: (Captain), you sure seem unusually close to Magisa all of a sudden...
Magisa: There's no mistaking it. I just knew we were destined to be together.
Magisa: So could I please ask you to stop sneaking around like a fool?
Lyria: Me?
Imperial Soldier: Argh! She noticed!
In response to Magisa's words, a few remaining soldiers step out from the shadows.
Magisa: Trying to catch us off guard? Even then, you couldn't possibly win.
Imperial Soldier: Is that one of your predictions? But I thought you said you couldn't do that any more...
Magisa: A prediction? Don't be silly. I'd call this confidence.
Imperial Soldier: What the?
Magisa: I'll incinerate you before you can even think of drawing your blade on (Captain).
Magisa: And it'll be over before you even know it. We have a bit of a knack for such things, you see.
Imperial Soldier: Yikes! This witch is insane!
Vyrn: Whoa! I've never seen anyone run away so fast!
Vyrn: Then again, who could stand his ground against something so terrifying?
Magisa: Not that one apparently. He obviously saw the future...
Magisa: A future that included nothing even resembling his victory.
With her familiar behind her, the multi-talented witch smiles softly.
Her eyes, which once peered into the future, now gaze longingly at one of her fellow skyfarers.
The Witch Hunting Village[edit]
(Captain) and the crew visit a small village. However, a strange atmosphere looms over the village, and there's no one in sight. Suddenly a young girl runs by, armed soldiers in hot pursuit. Not fully understanding the situation, the crew nevertheless confronts the guards.
(Captain) and the crew continue their journey in search of the Island of the Astrals.
On the way they stop to rest in a small village nestled in the mountains.
Vyrn: What's going on here? I hardly see anyone...
Lyria: That's strange, considering all these houses. I wonder if nobody here goes outside during the day.
Magisa: There could be all sorts of reasons, so we shouldn't jump to any conclusions...
Magisa: But it does seem like they're scared of something.
Magisa: Look closely at the doors to the houses. They all have charms to protect against evil spirits on them.
Vyrn: Charms? What in the world is going on in this village?
Girl: Huff... Huff...
Lyria: Oh! That girl! She must be from this village!
Girl: !
Lyria: She's gone... She sure looked like she was in a hurry.
Guard: Wait! Stop running already! You little witch!
Magisa: What was that about?
Lyria: This isn't good! It looks like those guards are chasing the girl we just saw!
Vyrn: Seriously? But those guards looked like they were about to bust out their swords!
Magisa: I have no idea what's going on in this town, but I'm not about to leave some girl to a fate like that.
The Witch Hunting Village: Scene 2[edit]
The angry villagers have condemned the girl as a witch, convinced she is commanding monsters to attack their village. Magisa offers to help catch the girl, gaining information about her whereabouts, and the crew heads into the woods to learn the girl's side of the story.
Villager 1: Blast it! Why are you meddling in other people's affairs!
(Captain) and the crew save the girl from the guards.
But they soon lose sight of her, and the villagers confront them for interfering.
Villager 1: What do you think you're doing? Why did you help that girl?
Magisa: Are you honestly saying that we should ignore a little girl being chased by guards with swords?
Villager 1: Yes we are! She has to be stopped for the sake of our village.
Vyrn: You must be joking. What could that girl have possibly done?
Villager 2: She's no ordinary girl. She's a witch, a fearful monster who threatens our village!
Magisa: How interesting. A witch you say? That little girl?
Villager 3: Yes, a witch! Why else would she have the ability to control monsters?
Villager 3: It's her fault monsters have been attacking our village!
Village Chief: I've actually been attacked by one of that witch's monsters before.
Village Chief: I wouldn't expect you outsiders to understand...
Village Chief: But we need to catch that witch to protect our village.
Lyria: Huh? There's something about the chief...
Vyrn: What's up, Lyria?
Lyria: Um... It's nothing! I'm probably just imagining things!
Magisa: Excuse me, but where does that little girl live?
Village Chief: She lives alone in the woods on the outskirts of the village. What's it to you?
Magisa: Now, now... There's really no need to be so defensive. We just want to make up for our mistake earlier.
Magisa: How about we go catch that girl for you?
Vyrn: Hey! Magisa, what are you saying?
Village Chief: We appreciate the offer, but the witch's house is protected by monsters, so getting close is no easy task.
Magisa: That's no problem. We'll take care of it.
Vyrn: Magisa, what are you thinking? Why would you offer to catch the girl for them?
Magisa: I had to say something, or the villagers wouldn't have let us leave.
Magisa: Plus they were kind enough to tell us exactly where the girl lives.
Magisa: Let's go find our little witch and hear her side of the story.
The Witch Hunting Village: Scene 3[edit]
(Captain) and the crew meet the little girl, who proclaims her innocence, saying that something in the village makes the monsters lose control. Magisa decides to send the village into turmoil, and the crew learns that the trouble is due to the dark essence the chief is hiding. The crew decides to destroy the essence.
Monster: Grrr...
Vyrn: Great... And we're so close to the place they told us about.
Girl: Excuse me, but... are you the people from before?
When the little girl appears, the growling monsters suddenly quiet down and snuggle up to her.
Magisa: Hello there, my little witch. Nice to meet you.
Girl: Hello... Is there something you want from me?
Magisa: Indeed there is. We heard about you from the villagers and decided to pay you a little visit.
Girl: So you're here to capture me!
Monster: Groooar!
Magisa: Oh, it's nothing like that, I assure you.
Girl: Huh?
Magisa: I was hoping that you'd be kind enough to tell us your side of the story.
The girl's relief is obvious as she begins to speak at length to the crew.
She says that she has no relatives and was born with the ability to form bonds with monsters.
However, according to her, she never set monsters on the village.
Girl: Something strange started happening recently. Normally my monster friends stay quiet and keep to themselves.
Girl: But now, whenever one gets near the village chief's storehouse, it suddenly becomes aggressive...
Girl: Nothing like this ever happened before, and villagers are getting injured.
Magisa: And they responded by condemning you as a witch, right?
Girl: Yes.
Lyria: I knew it. I just knew there was something off about the village chief.
Lyria: And I swear I've felt the same unpleasant sensation somewhere before...
Vyrn: I think I smell a rat, (Captain)!
Magisa: Now, little girl, you've been as honest with us as you could, right?
The little girl looks directly into Magisa's eyes and nods firmly.
Girl: I wouldn't lie to you. It's all true.
Magisa: I see. Now why don't we have a little fun with the villagers?
Villager 1: Aaargh! S-someone! Someone help me!
Village Chief: What is it? What's happened?
Villager 1: It's the witch! That little brat has finally come to do away with us!

Girl: Are you sure it's really okay for us to be doing this?
Magisa: I know it's not entirely fair to the villagers, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
Magisa: And this way they'll come to see the truth behind what's really going on.
Magisa: So this is the village chief's storehouse you mentioned?

Magisa: Whatever is going on in this village, we can help. We're quite resourceful you know.
Magisa: So why don't you be a dear and show us what's inside this storehouse?
Village Chief: I refuse.
Magisa: Is there something in here you don't want anyone to see? How very shocking!
Village Chief: Just drop the act, will you? I'm sure you already know what's inside, no?
Village Chief: I bet that little brat's been dropping hints too. Thanks to her my plan is all ruined.
Lyria: I sense that strange power coming from the chief again. And there's something else... Something familiar...
Village Chief: I should've known to be wary of outsiders. But who'd have thought someone who knows about dark essence would come along?
The irritated village chief mutters to himself as he pulls out a crystal.
Vyrn: That's dark essence! But what's the village chief doing with it?
Village Chief: It's not too late yet. All I have to do is shut the lot of you up. Permanently.
Guards: ...
Village Chief: And as luck would have it, the village is overrun by monsters. No one'll think twice if a few outsiders lose their lives to them!
Magisa: Oh dear. Have you really been cornered so easily? How very sad.
Magisa: But I guess you did condemn a little girl as a witch. You brought this on yourself.
Magisa: I think I'll give you a little lesson in what a real witch looks like.
Magisa: What you'll learn of our power will turn your blood to ice. You'll want to forget, but I'll carve my teachings into your very bones.
The Witch Hunting Village: Scene 4[edit]
(Captain) and the crew capture the village chief and his henchmen, finding a stockpile of stolen dark essence in his storehouse. The crew visits the village again some time later, but the little girl has decided to stay in the woods and hopes to one day become powerful like Magisa.
The crew captures the village chief and his guards, gaining access into the storehouse.
Lyria: Look at all this!
Before the crew is a large amount of dark essence the chief stole from the Erste Empire.
The chief has been trading the essence, which is capable of driving monsters insane.
(Captain) and the crew dispose of the substance as requested by the villagers and leave.
The crew visits the village again some time later, and find the little girl has opted to remain in the woods on the outskirts.
Vyrn: But don't the villagers realize they were wrong about you? Why haven't you returned to the village?
Girl: The thing is... the village still makes me a little uncomfortable.
Girl: And there's no way they'd let me live alongside all my monster friends there.
Monster: Roar!
Magisa: I see. As long as that's what you want.
Girl: You know... I wanted to thank you again for all your help.
Girl: Miss Magisa, your magic is so incredible!
Girl: One day I want to be a powerful witch just like you!
Magisa: That means a lot coming from you. It's great to have fans of your caliber.
Magisa: I'm sure you'll have powers beyond even my dreams one day. I can see the future, so I guarantee it.
Magisa: To be prepared to move away from civilization and live in these creepy woods at your age? It's like you were born to be a witch!
Magisa favors the girl with a mischievous smile.
The seasoned witch knows that the new peer she has discovered in that small village is destined to be one more shining star in her future.
