Prononciation d'une consonne muette en fin de mot quand le mot suivant commence par une voyelle.

La liaison est un sandhi, c'est à dire une modification de la prononciation des mots dans certaines conditions d'énonciation. Ce phénomène est fondamental en français et peu répandu dans les autres langues.

Exemples :

parlons /paʁlɔ̃/ + en /ɑ̃/ -> parlons-en /paʁlɔ̃zɑ̃/ (parlons-z-en)

« c’est un acteur déplorable » -> /sɛtɛ̃naktœʁ.deplɔʁabl/ (c'est-t-un-n-acteur déplorable)
