A game genre characterized by the presence of magic or magical aspects. Typically the genre also means a pseudo-historical theme, and only rarely includes modern or futuristic themes.
A game genre characterized by the presence of magic or magical aspects. In the context of RPG genres, "fantasy" is typically synonymous with a pseudo-historical setting and themes. Other settings and themes such as urban and futuristic are sometimes included in fantasy, but are usually referred to explicitly (e.g. "modern urban fantasy" or "techno-fantasy") when 'standard' pseudo-historical fantasy is not meant.
