Released in 2020, Cyberpunk Red features updated mechanics and new lore from the era between 2020 and 2077. The lore of Cyberpunk Red follows from the events of cyberpunk-2020 (the second edition of Cyberpunk); according to Mike Pondsmith, Cyberpunk V3.0 (the 3rd edition, released in 2005) is considered non-canon.
A simplified boxed set, the Cyberpunk Red Jumpstart Kit, was initially released at Gen Con in August 2019. The Cyberpunk Red core rulebook was originally intended to be released at the same time, but was delayed until November 2020 - in part to better align its lore with that of the video game Cyberpunk 2077 (set later in the same timeline), which was released the following month.
