I'm currently planning to get myself and three other friends into D&D, so I'm looking for tips on starting out from scratch.
To be clear, by from scratch I mean I don't have any dice, any rulebooks, really anything D&D related, hell, I haven't even really played D&D myself, the most experience I have with D&D is watching other people's campaigns on youtube.
What I'm planning is to create and DM a short campaign just to give my friends a taste of what it's like to play D&D (and because I really want to try it out for myself as well). I'm also planning to put in an NPC/pseudo-PC as a part of the party.
Feel free to give general tips for this, but a few questions that I'd need at most would be:
What edition should I start with/use?
What's the best tip you have for DMing?
What should I do with my campaign? Is what I've got planned viable for completely new players?
Are there short pre-made campaigns that are great for just jumping in and finish in around 1 or 2 hours?
Thank you!
