For questions about the now extinct Tocharian languages, formerly spoken and written in the Tarim Bassin.
The Tocharian languages Tocharian A (Agnean or East Tocharian; natively ārśi), Tocharian B (Kuchean or West Tocharian) and Tocharian C (a bunch of loan words in a Prakrit from Krorän) form an independent branch of the Indo-European languages. They were spoken and written in the Tarim Bassin (Western China).
Records of Tocharian date from the 3rd–8th century CE.
The were discovered only in the early 20th century.
