Percival is the third of three brothers born into an aristocratic family. Originally, he served as deputy commander of the Order of the Black Dragons in the Kingdom of Feendrache, but left due to certain circumstances. Since then, he went on a journey to study abroad in order to learn how to build an ideal nation. Percival is unaware of it himself but the inability to stop himself from helping those in need is a part of his nature. It is a habit of his to make up a reason to help others, and he believes that reaching out to the weak is a natural reaction for a person of noble standing. He is curt to others and serious to those he acknowledges.

Background

Percival was born to Herzeloyde and Ghamuret, both aristocrats of the House of Wales, along with two older brothers, Aglovale and Lamorak. Sharing a healthy competition with his brothers and having loving parents made for a happy childhood. It was from Herzeloyde that Percival learned to be kind and offer help to those in need.

At some point, a war broke out between two countries neighboring Percival’s home. Refugees came to Wales and the noble family offered them as much help as possible. Soon, the war worsened and trouble spilt into areas of Wales. During this time, Percival, his brothers, and his mother were travelling in a carriage when it was attacked by a pair that had been some of the refugees they had aided. His mother was killed when the carriage was flipped on its side, asking Percival to not hold grudges with the last of her strength. Her parting words were that she loved Percival and his brothers.

Years later, Aglovale inherited lordship of Wales and Lamorak became a talented wandering sorcerer, leaving Percival to follow an ancient custom of his House. Percival traveled to the Kingdom of Feendrache to become a knight. He eventually took the rank of co-deputy commander alongside his rival, Lancelot, under their leader, Siegfried.

Then, the King was murdered and the culprit was believed to be Siegfried. When his once trusted commander fled, Percival struggled with his beliefs. Though he did stay to see his order of knights reformed, Percival left once Lancelot was promoted to commander. The now former knight began to travel, learning about how a country should be run. He does so in the hope of creating his own, where even the most vulnerable people can live in peace and prosperity.

A Memory of Brothers Three[edit]

On the journey to Wales, the crew listens as Percival talks about growing up with his brilliant brother Aglovale and his playful brother Lamorak.

On their journey to Wales, (Captain) and the crew stop at a village inn.
Everyone gets to chatting and soon enough, the topic turns to Percival and his brothers.
Percival: In all our time together, (Captain), I suppose I've never really brought them up.
Percival: But what's the point in telling you about my brothers?
Vyrn: The point? There is no point. We're just curious is all.
Lyria: Well, um... As your vassal, I'm curious to know what kind of family you have!
Percival: Hm... I see what you mean.
Well then, (Captain), who would you like to hear about?
  1. Your oldest brother!
  2. Your second oldest brother!

Choose: Your oldest brother!
Percival: Hm... My oldest brother, huh?
Percival: His name is Aglovale. He's the current head of the House of Wales, and he's incredibly brilliant.
(Captain) asks if Percival has any fond memories of his brothers.

Choose: Your second oldest brother!
Percival: His name is Lamorak, and he's an outstanding sorcerer who travels around.
Percival: He's a bit of a joker, so he always kept our whole family laughing.
(Captain) asks if Percival has any fond memories of his brothers.
Continue 1
Percival: Ah, yes... I'll tell you about something that happened once.
In a forest just behind Wales Castle, Aglovale and Percival challenge each other's sword skills.
The eldest parries each thrust of Percival's wooden sword without breaking a sweat.
Percival: Raah!
Aglovale: Feh!
Percival: Raah!
Hah!
Yah!
Take that!
Aglovale: Is this it? Is this the progress you were so excited to show me?
Aglovale: (Hm... His swings still lack force...)
Percival: Hraagh!
Aglovale: (But he's driven. And his control is quite good. But that's not enough...)
Aglovale: Humph!
Percival: Whoa!
With an effortless swing, Aglovale sends Percival's sword flying high into the air.
Percival feels his brother's sword against his throat before his own sword lands with a thud.
Aglovale: Hmm...
Percival: Y-you got me...
Lamorak: And we have a winner! It's big brother Aggy!
Aglovale: Percival, I see you've improved. But you've a long way to go still.
Percival: Ah... Guess I'm still no match for you.
Aglovale: But your control has gotten much better, so keep at your training and don't slack off.
Percival: I won't, Brother!
Lamorak: (Heheheh... Now's my chance!)
A mystical mass of energy flies straight toward Aglovale from the shadows.
Aglovale: !
With a burst of light, Aglovale is instantly surrounded by smoke.
Lamorak: Not bad, huh?
Aglovale: Whew... That was close.
The smoke clears, revealing Aglovale completely unharmed after summoning a barrier of chilly vapor.
Lamorak: No way! Nobody can block a surprise attack from a blind spot like that!
Aglovale: Well, it was either block it or run, and I couldn't run...
Lamorak: Well, don't you look smug! Like you're mocking me! Are you mocking me?
Aglovale: Ah, but if you were out to hurt me, then you came pretty close, I think.
Lamorak: No, no, that's not the point! I'd never use that kind of power as a prank! Oh... Just forget it...
Percival: Lamorak, you were supposed to be watching our match.
Percival: How did you conjure that up from so far away?
Lamorak: Sorry! But I'll never tell!
Aglovale: Actually, Lamorak, why don't you give swordplay a try?
Lamorak: No thanks! I like to stick to what I'm good at. And swinging a stick just isn't my style.
Lamorak: Besides, the other day when Percy and I sparred against you at the same time, we couldn't land a single hit!
Aglovale: Heheheh... If you say so. But you'll never know if you don't give it your best shot.
Lamorak: What? I give everything my best shot! And what about... you know, that other thing... How does it go again, Percy?
Percival: Lord Aglovale!
The Wales Prodigy, he's called!
Unrivaled in sword and sorcery, he's the genius among us all!
Aglovale: Nah... When it comes to sorcery, surely Lamorak is better.
Lamorak: Oh, just quit it already! You know I'm no match against you!
Lamorak: Right, Percy?
Aglovale: Humph... Stop being modest.
Aglovale: If we Wales brothers combined our strength...
Aglovale: Then we could conquer all the skies one day!
Percival: Yep! If you lead us, Brother, I know we can! Let's conquer the skies!
Lamorak: Ah, I've got better things to do. I'll pass, thanks!
The brothers' laughter echoes on and on throughout the forest...
Percival: And that's the kind of bond we had, I guess...
Lyria: How sweet! You guys seem really close.
Vyrn: Hm... But it's sort of funny to think that Sir Burnsalot's got two big brothers, you know?
Percival: Humph. Really? I don't see what's funny about that.
Percival: What do you say, (Captain)? Did that satisfy your curiosity?
Amidst the excitement (Captain) asks a string of questions to get Percival sharing more about his childhood.
Percival: Hm, you want to hear more, do you? I don't know what could possibly be so interesting about it...
Percival: But... I guess I could indulge you just this once.
(Captain) and the crew listen intently as Percival begins another story.
They spend a pleasant evening talking and laughing well into the morning.

Two Kings[edit]

Percival, (Captain), and the crew visit Wales, ruled by Aglovale. He asks Percival to capture raiders in a remote village, and the crew agrees to help him.

Some time has passed since the series of incidents that sparked turmoil in Wales were resolved.
Feendrache, as a gracious victor, has given sovereign rights to Aglovale.
Today (Captain) and the crew, along with Percival, are paying a visit to Wales.
Percival: Did you call for me, Brother?
Aglovale: I have a favor to ask.
Percival: Of course. Just tell me what it is.
Aglovale: It seems some raiders have appeared, taking advantage of the recent chaos to ransack a remote village.
Aglovale: I need you to go there and capture them.
Percival: Understood. I'll handle the situation there and return order to the village.
Percival turns around to address (Captain) and the crew, who stand there patiently.
Percival: So, my vassals, what will you do?
Percival: Actually, since it doesn't concern you, I don't mind if you stay here and relax...
Lyria: We'll help you! If you're going somewhere, then your vassals will follow!
Vyrn: Yep! You can count on us! Right, (Captain)?
(Captain) looks up at Percival with a big smile and nods.
Percival: I should've known... You're too chivalrous for your own good.
Percival: Humph... Very well, then. I'm counting on you.
And so, (Captain) and the crew hurry away to the remote village, eager to defeat the raiders.

Two Kings: Scene 2[edit]

Percival, (Captain), and the crew reach the village and demand that the raiders surrender. Their leader refuses to back down and orders an attack.

News has spread regarding a remote village overrun by armed raiders.
Percival, (Captain), and the crew dash there to help bring order back to the area.
Percival: Listen up, you despicable vermin! I am Percival, leader of the defense corps.
Percival: Here's your only warning! If you don't put down your weapons and surrender now, you will be removed by force.
Boss Raider: Tch... The lap dogs of Wales are here already, eh!
Percival: You... Are you their boss?
Boss Raider: Yeah! What's it to ya?
Percival: Then you can choose whether you all come along quietly or whether I burn you all to a crisp where you stand.
Boss Raider: Oh really? Tryin' to tell me what to do, huh? Over my dead body!
Boss Raider: Hoo-wee! I'm feelin' up for a fight! Let's get 'em!
Percival: These fools don't know who they're up against...
Percival: Oh well... They'll find out soon enough.
Vyrn: That's right! Time to roll up our sleeves and fight!
Lyria: Yep! And I'll be standing by to help!
Percival: Let's go, (Captain)! Follow me!

Two Kings: Scene 3[edit]

The crew defeats the raiders. Aglovale asks Percival to stay and learn to build a country by his side, but Percival chooses to remain with the crew and discover his own path to kingship.

After defeating the raiders and saving the village, Percival, (Captain), and the crew report back to Aglovale.
Percival: Brother, I've returned from the village. The head raider and his gang have been successfully captured.
Aglovale: Excellent work, Percival.
Aglovale: By the way... I know you've just gotten back, but I have a matter to discuss with you.
Percival: Of course. What is it?
Aglovale's expression turns serious as he faces his younger brother.
Aglovale: What do you think... about building the future of Wales with me?
Percival: Brother... Could you mean...
Aglovale: Indeed I do. How'd you like to see firsthand the way to build a nation?
Aglovale: And of course, (Captain) and your other loyal vassals are gladly welcome to stay.
Aglovale: What do you say? Not a bad idea, eh?
Percival pauses to think before answering his brother's proposal.
(Captain) and the crew remain silent as they wait anxiously for his response.
Percival: Brother, I am humbled by your generous offer.
Percival: But I've already decided to establish my ideal nation with (Captain) and the crew.
Percival: And until I've determined what an ideal nation should be...
Percival: I'll continue to search for the answer during my travels with the crew.
Hearing Percival's words, Aglovale lets out a deep sigh.
Aglovale: Very well. You've made yourself quite clear.
Aglovale: It is true... You might lose sight of your ideal nation if you only stay by my side.
Aglovale: So I won't say anything more. Walk the noble path you've chosen, Brother, as you see fit.
Percival: Brother...
I, Percival, will surely find my own path to kingship.
Without another word, the brothers part in silence.
Percival boards the Grandcypher, and it sets off once again into the sky.
Percival: ...
Vyrn: What happened back there? Why'd he turn down a great chance like that!
Lyria: Hehehe... I dunno, but I'm glad he chose us instead!
(Captain) stands beside Percival, feeling the gentle wind pass between them.
Percival: So, (Captain)... where are we off to next?
The modest words of the future king resound in the hearts of his vassals.
The answer to his search surely lies ahead somewhere in the endless sky.
