Employing LaTeX first time for my undergraduate dissertation, while at a university lab Linux machine - no LaTeX installed, I pushed *.tex files to an online colleague's remote box, and ran latex, in several rounds, slightly revising and retrieving the output files locally.
In five minutes, my colleague prompted me: "Hey, what is that latex process you're running here? It busies the OS almost 100%. Now I have to disconnect your session"...
It was close to evaluation date; later, I made the document publicly available.
