Is it possible to shorten the delay between an exception and the time the force close dialog appears? It seems to take forever which is frustrating when reproducing a crash bug. It is especially frustrating when your app is an IME that keeps restarting itself!!!

Thanks in advance...

  • Does this happen for all your exceptions or only sometimes? For me they happen very close to the time of exception. If you set up a simple activity where you press a button that generates an exception, does it still take time? Also what's an IME? – skynet Nov 15 '11 at 23:40
  • You could also catch all uncaught exceptions in your code, show your own message, and quit app rightaway: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2681499/android-how-to-auto-restart-application-after-its-been-force-closed – Jarno Argillander Nov 15 '11 at 23:44
  • Yes it is like this for all my exceptions. An IME is a soft keyboard. If it crashes on startup, Android starts it again immediately. :( – Barry Fruitman Nov 16 '11 at 02:39
  • @Jarno: I cannot do that because I'm using BugSense to catch all uncaught exceptions. Oh, wait... :-/ – Barry Fruitman Nov 16 '11 at 17:08
