I am trying to write an SMS blocking application. I've got the blocking to work, now I want the ability to restore a previously blocked SMS to the inbox. If I can do this without triggering a new SMS alert, that would also help, but I'm not strictly looking to suppress the alert. I've already seen the following:

All these warn against using content providers as they're not supported, but no other method is discussed. Is this possible to do?

Edit - To clarify - the above methods are NOT recommended for use. I only added them to show what I've already seen and prevent people from suggesting them to me. See the comments there, and also see the link to the Android blog. I am looking for a viable alternate method to insert a new SMS into the inbox, preferably without alerting the user.

  • the links can help you in inserting the sms in the inbox...now what is the issue....please explain a little more...... – Vineet Shukla Oct 10 '11 at 06:07
  • The linked articles only talk about using an 'sms://' content provider, but they are not officially supported by the Android SDK, and implementations are not guaranteed to work across all phones. So effectively, these methods are useless. I only posted them to prevent people from pointing them out. If there's a different way to insert an SMS into the inbox I'd like to know more. – Rex Oct 11 '11 at 05:58
