I got the HTTP Error mentioned above on my web service and fixed it by following this solution:

My question is, will it happen again? On the answer it says "the user identity is outdated", but how does this happen and is it frequently? Because i can't have my web service randomly stopping again like this.

  • If you determine the root cause, and put appropriate controls in place to prevent the root cause from happening again, then no it won't happen again. – mason May 25 '22 at 16:55
  • I disagree, in the past week the user identity i was using was working and then suddenly it doesn't anymore and there's no explanation besides "it's outdated"? I just want to understand what happened and why – Lucas-Lima May 25 '22 at 17:01
  • Then you have not determined the root cause. That's the critical part to ensuring you fix something properly. – mason May 25 '22 at 17:12
  • Exactly that! And that's why i'm here asking this question, so i can try to find the root cause – Lucas-Lima May 25 '22 at 18:04
  • "the user identity is outdated" is of course not the right term to describe the root cause, but the actual underlying situation can only be well explained by domain administrators who configure various policies and some break the cached user credentials. If you really want to solve it for all, ask your domain administrators for reliable solutions. Usually you should switch to a passwordless domain service account, https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/fundamentals/service-accounts-on-premises – Lex Li May 25 '22 at 18:17
  • We don't have access to your system to be able to determine that. That's something you must do. The specific answer you linked to said the user was outdated, likely meaning the account's password had expired or some other similar user issue. So, go experiment and determine if that was the case. Check what the password policies are at your organization, see if you exceeded them. Then either have the policies adjusted to be suitable for that account, or set up sufficient alerting so that you know to go update the password well before it expires. Again, this is all on you to do. – mason May 25 '22 at 18:18
