This method to check the play store version. Does it return the available play store version for a particular user or it tells the latest version available for the application(it could be a beta release).

  • Are you getting the version within your app? That answers scrapes the web link. Hacky solution. I don't recommend it – Suraj Rao May 24 '22 at 13:28
  • @SurajRao We want to recognise when the Application release is out for Testing/Beta and the production build. We push the same apk from beta to production. and For testing we just download the apk from bamboo build. Now we want to identify if it's a production release or not. Need suggestions. I am new to android development.Fetching the version from play store and compare it with the application version won't help. Is there any hack similar to iOS https://stackoverflow.com/a/58135123/18210851 – shweta May 24 '22 at 13:44
  • @Suraj Rao yes, we the getting the version within our app – shweta May 24 '22 at 13:45
  • Perhaps https://stackoverflow.com/questions/24819546/is-it-possible-to-detect-that-an-android-app-is-either-a-beta-version-or-product ? – Suraj Rao May 24 '22 at 13:51
  • what exact solution you are referring to? We want to configure our application in three different environments Qa, Beta and production with a third party application. So when it's a QA environment, the application behaves a certain way and like wise for the other environments. – shweta May 24 '22 at 14:01
  • Perhaps explain the exact scenario within the question itself will help getting answers... – Suraj Rao May 24 '22 at 14:03
