I have an application (for macs) that can open files and can put the contents into a text widget. I want to be able to drag a file onto the application icon in the dock or the windowed version of the app (made with pyinstaller). How do I make it so that I can detect and allow files to be dragged onto the app? I know this is pretty niche and very extravagant but knowing that IDLE was made with tkinter and has this functionality I know that it can be done. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

NOTE:

I was directed to use tkinterDnD2 but upon use with pyinstaller I have found errors. This could work if someone could explain how to use it with pyinstaller

  • Ok, so I'm taking a look at tkinterDnD2 but I'm having problems with it and with pyinstaller – TRCK Apr 20 '22 at 01:22
