I'm trying to plot the statistical significance of a variable (in my case, unconditional frequency of cloud occurrence) on a map using the 't-score of each cell,' as described by Ozan Göktürk in response to Hatch area using pcolormesh in Basemap. I have global plots a la this showing the difference between variables -- that isn't the chart I'm trying to find significance for, but that's the gist. I want to show what regions have a statistically significant departure in a variable between two samples, if that makes sense.
