I am using Ubuntu 20.04. I am want the server to accept both IPv4 and IPv6 connection. Does the operating system supports dual stack sockets? If not how can I ensure my server will be able to support both IPv4 and IPv6 connections?

In short: support in the kernel is there, might be off by default but can be enabled on a per socket base. Apart from that it is also possible to listen on multiple sockets at the same time, i.e. different ones for IPv4 and IPv6. – Steffen Ullrich Jan 29 '22 at 14:16
