SO I have two datasets, however, the columns that I want to join on, sometimes are different by one or two characters. lets call this column 'key', this is how it looks like:

Df1:

Key    Val1 Val2
bck220  12   15

Df2:

Key    Val3  Val4
bck221   45   23

How can I just still join on the 'Key' column?

    Expected outcome? Or simply put.whats the criteria of merge? Try `df1.merge(df2, how='outer', on='key')` – wwnde Dec 17 '21 at 12:08
