Is there an easy way to merge two lists with a desired pattern?

Question

I have:

l1 = [1,3,5]
l2 = [2,4,6]

and I want:

joinedLists = [1,2,3,4,5,6]

So I'd like have a merged lists that alternates between the entries of the two given lists. Thanks a lot for your help!
