I've looked at previous posts here, but I don't see an answer that helps. I updated to the most recent version of VS 2017 (15.9.28307.1684) on Windows 10, but with no success.
I tried opening an existing solution, but VS says that it failed to open one of the project files and to see the Output for details. However, the Output text disappears too fast to read, and then VS shuts down.
I tied deleting the *.vs folder as was suggested in an earlier post. No luck.
I tried creating a completely new Windows Forms project, but VS 2017 shuts down again with no error message.
Running VS as administrator does not help.
This is a new problem. I've been using VS 2017 successfully for many years on this PC. I can't just update to VS 2019 or later without major effort because my most important program is quite large.
Can anyone suggest a solution for me? Thanks in advance for any advice!
