Use user input as part of a variable

Question

I need to use variable, let's say, "price_(item_name)" as the item name is user input. I really don't like the idea of using multiple ifs, just to get the calculation right, as there's a system with the prices already in place. So, any help on the matter will be greatly appreciated :)
