I was reading about linked lists and it said that when you delete a node you are cleaning it up/freeing up the space.
prev = current, current = current.next would "clean it up".
I'm just wondering what that really means. Isn't it technically still there but just inaccessible? Isn't this taking up just as much memory? How would the computer know that space is free to be used by something else?
