I am new to Pandas and want to add some datas in a column for examble:

Debit    Credit
1010.00   2000.00
45.00     NaN
30.00      24.00

I tried using df.sum() but it is appending the data as 1010.0045.0030.00 instead of 1085.00 for debit and 2024.00 for credit.

I am new to this so would be great if someone can refer me to some helpful resources as well.
