DatePicker to only allow selection of month and year

i'm trying to get my date picker to only show month and year, but can't seem to get this to work: using the code below from jQuery UI DatePicker to show month year only

For one, I can't get the onclose to trigger, how is it triggered? there's no close button, the user just selects a month and year and clicks away and the textbox is supposed to be populated with the date ie. last day of the selected month and year

The close should be when the user clicks a date – mplungjan Jul 19 '11 at 09:04

I see. There is a "bug" in the hack. Does not go away even when I upgrade to jq1.6.2 and ui 1.8.2 – mplungjan Jul 19 '11 at 09:29
