Getting error message: ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'pygame'

My program was working just fine but something must have updated because now it seems that I do not have pygame. I have read and tried many answers online but nothing seems to work. I do not know what to do. I just keep getting pygame error messages. I do not get a blank screen. I just get error messages.

If I type: python3 then I get:

Python 3.8.3 (default, Jul 2 2020, 16:21:59) [GCC 7.3.0] :: Anaconda, Inc. on linux Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.

I have pygame installed according to this message: python3-pygame is already the newest version (1.9.6+dfsg-2build1).

I think pygame is installed but not being recognized.

Any suggestions?

I will try that when I have wifi access again for my laptop. Is pip better than using the Ubuntu repository? – clipovich Oct 05 '20 at 15:54
pip install pygame==2.0.0.dev10 did not work. When I run my program now, I get a black screen. – clipovich Oct 06 '20 at 01:45
I figured out the problem. I was in Anaconda. I had to enter: conda deactivate – clipovich Oct 26 '20 at 15:57
