Cannot connect to the Docker daemon at unix:///var/run/docker.sock: in debian stretch armv7

Question

I am using IMX7 compulab that has the os version: cl-debian 4.9.11-cl-som-imx7-5.1. I was trying to install docker following the steps as described below:

The docker installs the following version info comes out: docker version

I have followed all the links I have got by googling:

• Cannot connect to the Docker daemon at unix:/var/run/docker.sock. Is the docker daemon running?
• https://docs.docker.com/config/daemon/

Please advise me what else I can do to resolve the issue.

Please note that, Azure IoT Edge relies on an OCI-compatible container runtime. For production scenarios, we recommended that you use the Moby-based engine. The Moby engine is the only container engine officially supported with Azure IoT Edge. Docker CE/EE container images are compatible with the Moby runtime.

Please check the compatibility of supported Operating systems and follow the steps accordingly.
