I have tried so many variations to echo the following string:

my attempts

b="a.pdf"

$ echo -n  "![](../images/""${b%.*}.png")
-bash: ![]: event not found

$ echo -n  "\![](../images/""${b%.*}.png"\)
\![](../images/a.png)

How to get:

![](../images/a.png)
