I'm new to here and this is my first time posting my question here. I enter code here not a very good coder and I'm trying to learn android studio for my FYP. My team and I are making an app for a parking system.

My friend/teammate has done with the login page and now I am moving the scanning part(Text recognition) into his portion.

As I finished moving my codes into his file and I run the application. It crashes with GradleCompatible error.

PS: Sorry for not using technical terms well. I'm not that good.

apply plugin: 'com.android.application'

    android {
    compileSdkVersion 28

    defaultConfig {
        applicationId "info.androidhive.loginandregistration"
        minSdkVersion 15
        targetSdkVersion 28
    }

    buildTypes {
        release {
            minifyEnabled false
            proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android.txt'), 'proguard-rules.txt'
        }
    }
    aaptOptions.cruncherEnabled = false
    aaptOptions.useNewCruncher = false
}

    dependencies {
    implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:28.0.0'
    implementation 'com.android.support:design:28.0.0'
    implementation 'com.android.volley:volley:1.1.0'
    implementation 'com.android.support:recyclerview-v7:28.0.0'
    implementation 'com.android.support.constraint:constraint-layout:1.1.3'

    implementation fileTree(dir: 'libs', include: ['*.jar'])
    androidTestImplementation('com.android.support.test.espresso:espresso-core:2.2.2', {
        exclude group: 'com.android.support', module: 'support-annotations'
    })
    testImplementation 'junit:junit:4.12'

    //Add Library
    implementation 'com.google.android.gms:play-services-vision:9.8.0'
}

there's an error saying that both of my code has 24.0.0 and 28.0.0. I guess my friend is using the latest 28 and I'm using 24. as I was compiling both together, it just don't work.

I've tried changing it to version 24 and it just doesn't work.

  • Update your all dependencies to the latest version. that may solve the build issue. – Mehul Solanki May 14 '19 at 07:31
  • see this link https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18299898/the-import-android-support-cannot-be-resolved – Archu Mohan May 14 '19 at 11:56
  • Lee , if you are changing compileSdkVersion to '24', then you also need to change other library versions listed in dependency. implementation 'com.android.support:appcompat-v7:28.0.0' implementation 'com.android.support:design:28.0.0' implementation 'com.android.support:recyclerview-v7:28.0.0' It will be helpful if you can share the build log. – Ranjan Kumar May 14 '19 at 12:00
