xcrun: error: invalid active developer path

I tried compiling a C program in the Terminal(Macbook) like this:

gcc Battleship.c -o Battleship

and I get this:

xcrun: error: invalid active developer path (/Library/Developer/CommandLineTools), missing xcrun at: /Library/Developer/CommandLineTools/usr/bin/xcrun
