I'm developing an Android application and it's coming along fairly well. A couple of days ago my boss surprised us with a Galaxy Tab (sweet!!), so now I'm developing for both the Droid Incredible AND the Galaxy Tab.

The thing that's bugging me right now is if I long-press the menu key on the Droid, I get the soft keyboard, but no matter what I do on the Galaxy, I can't display the soft keyboard in my application.

Is there some magic key sequence to display the soft keyboard on a Galaxy Tab???

Thanks, R.

I got a galaxy tab recently as well as far as I can tell there is no way to force the keyboard to open by default, it will open if you click inside of an EditText. but if that is not enough then you'll have to provide a way to do it within your app. Ireally wish that they had not removed this functionality I got used to it on my phones. – FoamyGuy Feb 16 '11 at 20:00
  • Well, at least I feel like less of an idiot for not being able to find it, thanks. Kingpin, below, makes the same suggestion -- I'll look into it. Maybe I can trap a long-press of the menu button, that should sit well with my users... – Rich Feb 17 '11 at 15:07
