I keep getting this error whenever I start up C# Express. I have tried registry edits, I have tried reinstalling it, and heck I even did a fresh install of windows. I am currently working on a nearly clean slate, I reset it about a week ago. C# worked fine up until now, and I am getting the same !@#$ error. How the heck do I fix this crazy thing?

2You formatted your drive, reinstalled Windows and Visual C# Express, and *still* are receiving this error? Your computer is possessed. – Cody Gray Jan 09 '11 at 08:28

possible duplicate of [Visual C# 2010 Express - Invalid license data. Reinstall is required.](http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2673275/visual-c-2010-express-invalid-license-data-reinstall-is-required) – Cody Gray Jan 09 '11 at 08:28

Do you have any anti-virus running? Any other snoopy programs like VPN software (endpoint security)? – John Saunders Jan 09 '11 at 08:34

I had norton before I reset my computer, then after I reset it, I gave Vipre a shot, didnt like it, and I've had it disabled for the past day or two (been meaning to put norton back on) and I just got the error tonight. And no other sorts of VPN, or anything like that I can think of – Sean Jan 09 '11 at 08:41

Reformatting your PC doesn't work yeah. My theory is that this is the DRM not liking a system's hardware. Of the three computers I've installed it on, it worked fine on a Dell-built laptop and an all-Intel white box, but failed on a white box running components from some (now-defunct, showing how much they care about their brand) Taiwanese company called "Sparkle". – MiffTheFox Jan 10 '11 at 05:06

grrr.... I've had it installed for about a year or so and I don't think I ever got this message, but I didn't use it that often up until a few weeks ago, so I wouldn't think it is the hardware... Maybe i am changing something somewhere that is somehow affecting it? – Sean Jan 10 '11 at 06:44

I just remembered that a long time ago (before I ever got this problem), I was using 2008 and now I am using 2010, from what I have read, this problem happens A LOT in 2010 for some reason. Just wondering, why does MS force you to have a license on a free product? – Sean Jan 10 '11 at 06:47

I wuold try installing from Microsoft again, then get a free license code *from Microsoft* and enter it. Make sure you get all Microsoft stuff - you don't want anything fake, and dont use your code from VS 2008. it's probobly different. – Cullub Aug 16 '14 at 21:23
