Registry Path returning null on windows 10 64bit Enterprise

I am confuse on why 'readkey' is returning null in this situation, currently running windows 10 Enterprise.

Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey readKey = Microsoft.Win32.Registry.LocalMachine.OpenSubKey("SOFTWARE\\TruckersMP");
        if (readKey != null)

If someone could point me in the right direction since this is new to me and help me learn in this area.
