I'm developing a game for a contest, strictly non-commerical. I have been searching for hours for potential work arounds as obviously I dont want to pay the $100USD license fee for one contest entry. Is there no other way?

Things I have tried.

  1. Tried HockeyApp until I realised you needed a license for Provisioning
  2. TestFlight is owned by Apple now so you need a license for that one.

My issue is that the app will literally only be downloaded as a one off from one user, if there is no other way or exception then so be it. But I figured ask the pros before giving up. Thanks for any help guys.

  • Something like that: http://stackoverflow.com/a/4952845/4524113 – apetrov Aug 16 '16 at 12:16
  • @AleksandarPetrov Yeah the only issue with that is I can't send the App to the judges haha. Have to be a able to submit something they can run, so a link to a DL or on the APP store basically. So the free provisioning only lets me run it on my own device – Joe Smith Aug 16 '16 at 12:21
  • If the competition requires that the judges are able to download the app and run it on any device then you will need a paid membership of the Apple developer Program. There is no way around it. – Paulw11 Aug 16 '16 at 13:14
  • Sadly I'm not able to name any beta/ad hoc distribution service that doesn't need a provisioning profile. I'm not familiar with the contests rules, but if the source code should be provided, the judges could build and run it as it shown in the above link. However if it's a requirement that the game should be archived and distributed, then ask organisers it is possible that this case have been addressed and they may have a developer program - if so you can ask them to invite you. Otherwise you have to pay. – apetrov Aug 16 '16 at 13:15
