I am all new to spark. I am installing spark on windows 7 OS. For commands like sbt/sbt assembly in unix, In cmd I have to put the bat file in main directory of spark and write sbt assembly. Similarly for /bin/spark-shell. I have to do cd bin and then spark-shell. But then Files available in home directory of spark can't be directly accessed as in the case of unix.

I understand this question is more inclined towards cmd commands usage than Apache spark. But it is one of the problems on the way. Waiting for a quick reply!

Thanks.

  • Have you checked http://stackoverflow.com/questions/23499274/installing-apache-spark-on-windows ? as for the other part of your question, it is too vague, you should provide an actual problem – lpiepiora May 11 '14 at 17:30
  • Overnight I have solved few problems and proceeded a bit. I am modifying my question to the new problem I am facing – Rahul Bhojwani May 12 '14 at 04:31
  • Just bite the bullet and learn how to use a sensible operating system. – samthebest May 13 '14 at 10:42

Okay I got the answer. Actually Unix and its variants use the forward slash (/) to denote filesystem hierarchy. However, Windows uses backslash () as its filesystem delimiter. That's why I was having trouble.
