I have installed Ruby 2.0.0 along with rails 3.1.12. I am trying to start my server, but I end up in the following error:

ERROR:  Error installing json:
        The 'json' native gem requires installed build tools.

Please update your PATH to include build tools or download the DevKit
from 'http://rubyinstaller.org/downloads' and follow the instructions
at 'http://github.com/oneclick/rubyinstaller/wiki/Development-Kit'

I tried many answers like, following the devkit steps at wiki, but I get stuck in the "ruby dk.rb install" step. I included the ruby installation path in the config.yml file, then too the error persists.

I also modified my environment variables to include the path. Then too I failed.

Please help me resolve this issue.

My config.yml file looks like this:

This is the error I get when I run Devkit commands. C:\Devkit>ruby dk.rb init Initialization complete! Please review and modify the auto-generated 'config.yml' file to ensure it contains the root directories to all of the installed Rubies you want enhanced by the DevKit. Try use `json_pure` instead of native `json` gem, because former is written in pure ruby and should work on any ruby version. — Gabor Garami, Jan 17 '14 at 11:01

So `gem install json_pure` displays same error as described above? Or you just cannot use your app, because it has (direct or transitive) dependency for `json` native gem? — Gabor Garami, Jan 19 '14 at 11:35
