Has anyone heard of com.google.android.apps.photos.permission.GOOGLE_PHOTOS ? I don't seem to find it anywhere in the docmentation, yet I get it in an exception from users running 4.3 and above.

If you have any info about it then please share

Thank you

  • Can you share what exception you received and what you are doing in relation to bringing in external photos into your app? – ianhanniballake Jan 13 '14 at 02:06
  • Here is a related question that I posted which shows exactly why the exception was generate. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21082708/java-lang-securityexception-permission-denial-opening-provider-com-google-andr – Snake Jan 13 '14 at 02:23
  • There's no `GOOGLE_PHOTOS` permission in the SDK - even API level 19 source does not list this permission. It's probably some internal permission used only by Google. – ChuongPham Jan 13 '14 at 02:38
  • Why the downvote/closed question? It is valid! – Snake Jan 13 '14 at 18:03
  • I am pretty sure it is from the new Google+ photo app. I use to get around it. – clocksmith Mar 06 '14 at 04:41

According to Manifest.permissions, there is no GOOGLE_PHOTOS permission. Perhaps its a custom Android permission.
