In android how can i reduce my image size from 70 kb to 30 kb programatically?

Question

I am developing an app in android that will capture a photo and store in sqlite. The image size is 70 kb but i want to store that image with 35 kb size. But i can't get any idea for this. I tried the following code but without success.

int photo_width = bm.getWidth();
int photo_height = bm.getHeight();

photo_width = 260;
photo_height = 260;

Bitmap photobitmap = Bitmap.createScaledBitmap(bm,
    photo_width, photo_height, false);

Use this one:

public Bitmap getResizedBitmap(Bitmap bm, int newHeight, int newWidth) {
    int width = bm.getWidth();
    int height = bm.getHeight();
    float scaleWidth = ((float) newWidth) / width;
    float scaleHeight = ((float) newHeight) / height;
    Matrix matrix = new Matrix();
    matrix.postScale(scaleWidth, scaleHeight);
    Bitmap resizedBitmap = Bitmap.createBitmap(bm, 0, 0, width, height,
            matrix, false);

    return resizedBitmap;
}

you can use this one...This is the Best Example.....

if you have taken two photos from camera then at run time you have to add it to in bitmap arraylist... – Piyush Nov 28 '13 at 10:08

@kaveriPatel what you should do .. when you capture image from camera at that time you have add that bitmap object to your arraylist.....and if there is a file path then it is easy to save that path to temporary file....and after that decode it – Piyush Nov 28 '13 at 10:26

when you are creating scaled bitmap then it is automatically resize the new bitmap object withing its original bitmap size.... – Piyush Nov 28 '13 at 11:35
But if you have 1200 x 1200 px image and reduce it to 640px. then automatically its size will be reduced.... – Piyush Nov 28 '13 at 11:37

Now when you have taken fix height and width 260..so just check it with.... Bitmap bmp = getResizedBitmap(260 ,260);..check if its give 35 kb size??? – Piyush Nov 28 '13 at 11:41

You can use Bitmap.compress() to produce a compressed version.

i used that... photobitmap.compress(Bitmap.CompressFormat.JPEG, 100, bytearrayoutputsrteam);...but not working – kaveri Patel Nov 28 '13 at 09:53

anything between 0 - 100, 0 meaning compress for the smallest size. So you will have to pick which will work best for your image. – marcbest Nov 28 '13 at 10:01
