I need some help. I’m trying to develop some sound effects with C# for WindowsPhone Application in Visual Studio. I have had a look at some libraries; however, they aren’t compatible with WP. I have looked everywhere and I can't find any clear example of chorus effect. To get around this I'm planning to implement my own chorus effect. I do know that “chorus effect” combines the input signal with one or more frequency-modulated delayed copies of itself. The delay times are varied using a Low-Frequency Oscillator. My problem is that I don´t know how to develop the LFO.

What do you suggest? What’s the easiest way?

Thanks.

  • A quick search on google, and I found the EffectsChorus struct, used in DirectX. Is that what you are looking for? http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb319012(v=vs.85).aspx – Lars Kristensen Aug 01 '13 at 10:58
  • An LFO is just a waveform (e.g sine wave) with a low frequency. Here's an example of how to create one: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/203890/creating-sine-or-square-wave-in-c-sharp – Chris Clayton Aug 01 '13 at 10:59
  • It’s not exactly that, because I can’t make it work, I think I have some problems with DirectX references and that kind of things. – rosk Aug 02 '13 at 10:32
  • I have already created the lfo but the chorus effect doesn`t work. There are some strange noises when I playback the recording. – rosk Aug 02 '13 at 10:35
  • I would remind you, for Chorus Effect your delayed copies can be controlled by a Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO) or by a Low Pass Filter (LPF) generated by random values. – ederwander Aug 03 '13 at 16:58
