Catching an exception, e == null

I saw a lot of similar questions, but I didn't find a good answer.

The problem is, when I use Debug mode, in catch block e == null, and the application crashes with unhandled NullPointerException. But I'm able to catch an exception and to see stacktrace if I use Run mode.

What might be the reason? Thanks in advance!

Exceptions from `catch` are never `null`. Could you provide an [SSCCE](http://sscce.org) that reproduces what you're seeing? – Matt Ball Mar 18 '13 at 14:39

@SotiriosDelimanolis `throw null` throws an NPE, not `null`. http://ideone.com/ARKdIi – Matt Ball Mar 18 '13 at 14:40

@MattBall I found the line, that creates an exception, and it's OK, nothing strange. – Taras Mar 18 '13 at 14:53
Try removing the `IOException` catch block and see if the same thing happens for the `Exception` block. – Sotirios Delimanolis Mar 18 '13 at 14:56
