I am simply trying to make the email field in my database unique so that two users are not allowed to register using the same email address. But I keep getting this error: #1170 - BLOB/TEXT column 'email' used in key specification without a key length. How do I sort this out?

    I think you are getting this error since you defined the filed email as BLOB or TEXT. Try to use a VARCHAR of size 100... don't think there is an email with more then 100 characters... – araknoid Feb 27 '13 at 21:38
