What does @synchronized mean

Question

I meet this code:

       @synchronized (self.messageQueue) {
        [self.messageQueue insertObject:messageDictionaryRepresentation atIndex:0];
    }

I want to ask for help what this syntax(@synchronized) use for? Thanks.
