Foley work is usually carried out on a Foley stage and involves the imitation of sounds from the everyday world, for use in various media but mainly film, TV, radio and video games. Use for questions related to Foley work.

"Foley" is named after Jack Donovan Foley, who was asked by Universal Studios to create the sound effects for the 1929 musical movie Show Boat, which he recorded, as-live on one track with his team, who until then worked in radio, which is where this concept of live sound effects originated.

What is the difference between foley and practical sound?
