What do I lose when reducing bit depth?
I am concerned about the losses when converting flac files from 24bit to 16bit.
Does it reduce quality or add noise or what?

Should I ever use a bit depth less than 24 bits?
Pro Tools gives me the option of 16 bit or 24 bit. Is there a reason I shouldn't just always use 24-bit sessions to get the highest quality sound?

Batch convert the bit depth of several audio files from 32 to 16
Is there a reasonable way to batch convert the bit depth of several audio files from 32 to 16?
With Adobe Audition, I can open a file, then "Save As..." and change it to 16 bit. But I have hundreds of files now.

When converting a 24 bit signal to a 16 bit signal, why can't we simply round the 24 bit sample value to the nearest 16 bit sample value? …
