Ebola is a disease of humans and other primates caused by ebolaviruses. The disease has a high risk of death, killing approximately 50% of those infected. It was first identified 1976. There have been dozens of outbreaks since then, the largest being the ongoing outbreak in West Africa.

After years of research, a vaccine was found to be 100% successful against ebola in July 2015.
