A jigsaw puzzle is a tiling puzzle that requires the assembly of (often oddly shaped) interlocking and tessellating pieces.

Each piece usually has a small part of a picture on it and the aim of the game is to fit the pieces together to produce the full picture, meaningfully. In some cases, more advanced types have appeared, such as spherical jigsaws and puzzles showing optical illusions.

In some variants, all pieces are already put in place and the solution is to put the pictures or letters or numbers on the pieces, meaningfully.
