How is 7 half of 12?

I believe it is:

XII is 12, but VII (XII cut in half) is 7

If you

Cut XII (12 in Roman numerals) in half along the horizontal, you get VII (7)

    I like that using the code font invalidates this riddle, as cutting XII in this font in half does not, in fact produce VII, but rather VTT – Paul L May 20 '16 at 17:58
  • @question-asker I didn't meant to nitpick at all. I apologize if that's how it came out. I was mostly amused that the answer to the riddle (or rather, whether or not it has an answer) depends on what font one uses.
