Concept that development should produce sustainable economic growth, while ensuring that future generations keep the same abilities. Strongly related to sustainable resource management and environmental protection.
Sustainable Development proponents argue that it is development with the goal to produce sustainable economic growth, while ensuring that future generations keep the same abilities. Sustainable development is strongly related to sustainable resource management, environmental protection, and social development (e.g. human rights and gender equality).
Opponents argue that economic development is naturally sustainable in that resources that become scarcer become more expensive. As such, there is no need for a separate sustainable development.
