A High Court bench of my country, on Oct 24, 2018, passed a law that asks telecom providers to block all pornographic websites.
The 1961 international treaty, Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, classed cannabis as a hard drug thus our government, again, banned its sale and trade.
Both of these have no proven harmful effect on us(Unlike Cigarettes) and have a huge potential market (Especially cannabis as the Export can generate a tremendous income), at the same time, the sale of the same in the black market reduces government revenue and opens the door to a lot of criminal activity.
So, why (What political Agenda?) not take an example of other countries (US, Canada, etc.) and remove the imposed bans?
In this case, the mentioned Country is India.
