Knowledge Management involves several strategies that an organization may use to educate, train, share experiences, document processes and procedures, distribute information, and keep that information up to date.

Special software is usually used to store the information. Some companies use wikis, others use cloud-based tools like Google Sites or Google Docs. Some use Wordpress. There are many other ways an organization can store information that lets users contribute to its expansion.

Knowledge management can also involve media other than written communication. Some strategies involve the use of videos, screenshots, images, or audio. The choice of media oftentimes depends on the difficulty level of the subject, the audience of the subject, and the frequency of updates required on the topic. Some strategies utilize a healthy mixture of these different media to help the audience improve their recall and recognition of the subject matter.
