How to fix Magento 2 2.0.0-RC Admin page not found after installation

Question

It's a fresh new install with a clean database. I checked the values from Magento 2 : Error 404 not found at magento 2 admin login page and it's fine too.

Also tried to access it via /index.php/admin as suggested by All of the buttons/links including admin login shows error 404 not found 1, how to fix this problem? but still not found.

During the setup process, I specified "admin" as url.

Front end is working.

Someone can help?

I have faced the same problem.

Then I solved it just adding the .htaccess file in root folder.

Weird one Magento2.2.2 didn't provide a .htaccess.sample !!!! worked for me. — Juliano Vargas, Jun 21 '19 at 14:27

We need to enable apache rewrite module and also change the config to allow all.

For the configuration add the following code:

  <Directory /var/www/html>
            Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
            AllowOverride All
            allow from all
 </Directory>

Here check how to enable rewrite module

Thanks God, here you are !!!, I have .htaccess everywhere, but my Magento doesnt work from BackEnd to FontEnd , so the keys are Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews and AllowOverride All – vanduc1102 Nov 17 '18 at 09:21

Just copy pub/.htaccess to root folder.

Currently Magento2 RC have issue on installation with custom port.

To resolve it, in FrontNameResolver on line 88 replace

$host = isset($_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']) ? $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'] : '';

to

$host = isset($_SERVER['HTTP_HOST']) ? parse_url($_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'], PHP_URL_HOST) : '';

After this change, I was stuck on the admin-login page (even when the browser would display /admin/admin/dashboard/index....). But combined with @Dmitry Fedyuk answer (add the .com) it worked. – csmarvz Nov 06 '15 at 15:32

Magento backend authentication does not work properly on top-level domains (like m2rc).
Use second level domains (m2rc.com, for example).
