I'm planning on travelling to Mongolia for two weeks in about six months' time. I plan to hire a guide, but I want to learn some Mongolian for two reasons. One is in case I lose my guide (or haven't met up with them, etc) and the other is to "break the ice" to an extent, even if it's just expressions like "isn't that so" or "amazing!".
I will learn how to read, write, and pronounce Mongolian Cyrillic.
When learning a language for travel, a lot less time will be dedicated to it than if I was learning it in order to be fluent. Does this mean certain parts of language learning are prioritised, and other parts de-prioritised?
